Meet Natasha Brown-Wainwright: From Educator to Entrepreneur
Natasha Brown-Wainwright’s journey from nurturing young minds to delighting taste buds is a story of passion, purpose, and community.
For over two decades, she owned and operated Progress Place Learning Center (PPLC), where she built a nurturing environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive.
In 2009, Natasha introduced her daycare students to entrepreneurship through a summer
project called PPLC Sweet Treats. Children created and sold cakes, cookies, brownies, and
smoothies—sparking curiosity, confidence, and business know-how. From that project came
something extraordinary: a one-of-a-kind brittle recipe that would eventually launch Natasha’s Just Brittle.
By 2016, Natasha embraced her calling as a full-time entrepreneur. She closed her daycare to
grow her sweet venture and, in 2017, opened B’More Made with Pride Commercial Kitchen & Café -Baltimore’s first Black-owned culinary incubator. The space not only produces her signature brittles, but also empowers local food entrepreneurs with resources, mentorship, and opportunity.
From teacher to “Brittle Queen of Baltimore,” Natasha’s journey is proof that with heart and hustle, sweet dreams really can come true. <3
